Optical Gel Four-Year Warranty

Optical Gel has demonstrated long-term effectiveness across a wide range of environments and applications worldwide. When properly installed on structural surfaces — including roofs, signs, ledges, beams, and windowsills — the product is warranted for a period of four (4) years from the date of purchase. 

This warranty is valid only when Optical Gel is installed by Bird Barrier Certified Installers in full accordance with manufacturer specifications and written installation guidelines. 


Warranty Coverage
Under qualifying conditions, Optical Gel is warranted to repel pest birds for four (4) years. Coverage applies only when all requirements below are met:

  1. Surface Preparation
  • All bird droppings and nesting materials must be removed. 
  • Surfaces must be cleaned and sanitized using Dissolve-It® and liquid bleach, or approved equivalents. 
  1. Installation Spacing
  • Optical Gel disks must be no more than 3 in. (7.5 cm) apart (6 in. (15 cm) center-to-center) 
  1. Approved Attachment Methods
  • White Lightning Silicone Adhesive 
  • Bird Barrier Bond (Soudaseal) 
  • Optical Gel Mag ,with magnetic base attached at the factory 
  • Optical Gel Zip, injection-molded base with UV resistant zip-ties on railings, pipes, etc. 
  • Optical Gel Cliq, releasable base for quick disk swap out 
  1. Certified Installation
  • Installer must be Bird Barrier Certified. 
  • Installation photos must be taken and retained for warranty review. 
  1. Routine Monitoring
    Installations must be periodically inspected to confirm ongoing performance.


Birds Repelled by Optical Gel 
Optical Gel is designed to deter pest bird species including, but not limited to: 

Pigeons, gulls, sparrows, crows, ravens, starlings, grackles, swallows, and woodpeckers. It is not recommended for turkey vultures and other large birds of prey. 


What Constitutes Failure
A warrantable failure is defined as birds that have created new nest(s) or are habituating on correctly treated surfaces, on or between Optical Gel disks. 

The following are not considered failures: 

  • Birds lightly touching down (testing) on the protected surface 
  • Disk discoloration or darkening 
  • Dust accumulation or weathering 
  • Cosmetic changes not affecting repellency 
  • Waste originating from unprotected surfaces above 

Bird Barrier shall not be liable for failure due to: 

  • Improper installation or spacing 
  • Inadequate surface preparation 
  • Use of non-approved attachment methods 
  • Structural defects or substrate failure 
  • Acts of nature, extreme weather, or environmental events 
  • Tampering, vandalism, or third-party disturbance 
  • Disks being covered by sand, dust, or other debris that impairs product performance 

No distributor, installer, or representative is authorized to modify or extend this warranty beyond the terms stated herein. 


Warranty Claim Procedure
To submit a claim within the four-year period, provide: 

  • Purchase receipt or order from Bird Barrier, or an authorized distributor, proving the purchase of the Optical Gel and the Dissolve-It cleaner 
  • Photos showing birds or nesting materials on/between disks 
  • Photos of droppings on or around the installation 
  • Original installation photos 

Submit documentation to: customercare@birdbarrier.com 

If review confirms product failure and proper installation, replacement Optical Gel will be provided to repair or reinforce the affected area. 


Legal Limitations & Conditions
This warranty is limited to product replacement only. 

Bird Barrier expressly disclaims responsibility for: 

  • Labor costs 
  • Installation or reinstallation costs 
  • Access equipment (lifts, scaffolding, etc.) 
  • Shipping or freight charges 
  • Property damage or cleaning costs 
  • Loss of business or consequential damages 

This warranty applies only to the original installation and is non-transferable.
